Founder and Head Buyer, Carrie Kelly, began her career in the fashion industry at Neiman Marcus, where she worked personally with iconic designers including Christian Louboutin, David Yurman, and Donna Karan, and hosted events for countless other notable fashion brands such as Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton, and Diane Von Furstenberg. From there, Carrie’s love of fashion led her to complete post-graduate work at New York’s prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology. She later served on the Board of Directors for the Fashion Group International in Washington, DC. After years of experience inside the industry, Carrie returned to an idea she’d had for decades: a boutique that inspires confidence and beauty through fashion, giving customers an unforgettable experience every time they shop. Carrie is thrilled to bring her lifelong dream to Baltimore, blending her personal sense of style with her industry-insider experience in one shopping destination. “In today’s world, social media can be a vortex of doubt and insecurity. But at Mason-Mayes, we’re all about authenticity and confidence. You feel like you’re shopping with a best friend,” says Carrie of her flagship boutique. “We want you to feel classic, comfortable and beautiful—not just while you’re in the store, but again later, when you’re wearing that new top for the third time because it has instantly become a go-to piece.” Carrie’s signature style is a modern mix of effortlessness and elegance—and this is the vibe that defines the entire space. “I’m generally a shift-dress or jeans-and-t-shirt kind of girl, but luxury is in my bones—and who doesn’t love a little glam?” she says. “It’s fun to mix things up and I’ve selected some of my favorite brands to offer the perfect blend of casual, colorful, and chic to suit any style and any occasion.” Carrie has made Mason-Mayes a one-stop shop by design: “Pair some perfectly fitting jeans with a flirty blouse and a colorful cuff—then you’re ready for cocktails with the girls.” But great style is only part of the equation. Carrie’s genuine spirit, honesty and belief in making her shoppers feel like guests is what sets this spot apart. “Come on over,” she says. “I can’t wait to earn the privilege of being your new favorite store.”  

WHAT'S MASON-MAYES?

The name is an homage to eternal style and substance, past and present. Carrie was inspired by the life of her great-grandfather, James Keelty, who worked as a stonemason after coming to America from Ireland. Keelty and others like him laid the foundation—both literally and figuratively—for generations to come in the city of Baltimore. This enduring spirit now continues with his great-granddaughter, Carrie, as she opens her first self-made business. The “Mayes” of Mason-Mayes looks toward the future: a combination of Carrie’s children’s names, the name Mason-Mayes represents one family’s story throughout the generations. With the opening of the first Mason-Mayes boutique, that story gains yet another chapter.
